With the disintegration of the joint family system and the rise in number of nuclear families, senior citizens in India often find themselves feeling alone, neglected and depressed even when they are living with their children and grandchildren. The stress and pressures of the modern world keep the family members busy with their own work and studies, with little time and sometimes inclination to spend time with the older members of their households.
For those whose children have left and resettled abroad or far from home, the situation is worse. Deprived of any other human presence at home, they try to fill their time with a few chores and solitary walks until such time that they are able to. With increasing age often comes decreased mobility and ill-health, confining them indoors with only the television for company.

(अर्थ – जब तक धन-संपत्ति अर्जित करने में समर्थ हो तब तक उसका परिवार उसमें अनुरक्ति रखता है।
बाद में वह जर्जर हो चुके शरीर के साथ इधर-उधर भटकता है और घर में कोई उससे हालचाल भी नहीं पूछता।)

एकाकी रह रहे बुजुर्गों की अनार्थिक रूप से सहायता कर उनके जीवन में खुशियों के क्षण जोड़ने की दिशा मेंइस ट्रस्ट इस कार्य अपने आप में महत्वपूर्ण है । इस ट्रस्ट का यह योगदान समाजसेवा का अनुकरणीय उदाहरण है ।
टाईम बैंक ऑफ इंडिया को मेरा आशीर्वाद । यह मेरे द्वारा किसी समय बनाए गए श्रम बैंक की भांति ही है जहां श्रमिक, खास कर खेती के श्रमिक एक दूसरे की श्रम के बदले श्रम देकर सहायता करते थे । ये बुजुर्गों की समय देकर सेवा करने के लिए है, जो एक बहुत अच्छा विचार है ।
Time Bank is a unique community project. It serves the needy lonely senior citizens. It deposit Time, not Money. RID 3054 is its mission partner for spreading awareness. We appeal every Rotarians who wish to serve elders should register with Time Bank of India.
Time Bank of India is the far most Time Bank of the country. The dedication services to the lonely elder people with the help of its other members. This unique system serves the lonely elder members free of any monitory charges. The amount to time spent by the members in serving the elders is deposited in their bank account in terms of hours which can be withdrawn further as per the needs.
टाईम बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ट्रस्ट अपने आप में ही एक नया विचार है और बहुत ही समर्पण से इसके पदाधिकारी काम कर रहे हैं । आज के समय में इसकी बहुत आवश्यकता है । मुझे खुशी है कि उच्च एवं तकनीकि शिक्षा में हमने आनंदम नाम से अनिवार्य विषय जोड़ा है जिसमें बच्चे कम्यूनिटी सर्विस करेंगे । इसमें भी टाईम बैंक ऑफ इंडिया बहुत रुचि के साथ इन्वोल्व हो रहे हैं ।
बड़े खुशी की बात है कि टाईम बैंक ऑफ इंडिया ट्रस्ट ने एक नया यूनिक कान्सैप्ट समाज के सामने प्रस्तुत किया है । ये पैसा जमा नहीं करते हैं , आप जो समय देते हैं किसी काम को करने के लिए, वो एक बैंक में जा कर जमा हो जाता है और जब आपको जरूरत पड़े तो कोई दूसरा व्यक्ति उस समय को आपके लिए उपलब्ध कराएगा । मेरी शुभकामनायें ।
मैं टाईम बैंक ऑफ इंडिया के आयोजको को बधाई देता हूँ । इसके माध्यम से समाज सेवा के कई आयामों से जुड़े है और मैं समझता हूँ कि जहां आप सेवा के लिए अपना समय देते हैं ये टाईम बैंक में जमा होता है और उससे जो पुण्य प्राप्त होता है वो और भी बड़ा है ।
मैंने पहली दफा टाईम बैंक के बारे में सुना । हमारे जो बुजुर्ग दंपति है, उन्हे बहुत कष्ट होता है क्योंकि बच्चे तो बाहर चले जाते है या होते भी हैं तो इतने बिजी होते हैं कि उन्हे अपने माँ बाप को समय देना मुश्किल हो जाता है । इस टाईम बैंक से जो अकेले रह जाएंगे उनका समय अच्छे से पास हो जाएगा ।
टाईम बैंक का प्रकल्प जो शुरू किया है, ये सभी एकाकी लोगों के लिए प्राणवायु की तरह होगा । इसकी भावना से उस व्यक्ति का समाज के प्रति मोह बढ़ेगा और आप सब के मन में भी ईश्वरीय ताकत उत्पन्न होगी कि वो लोग जो एकाकी जीवन जी रहे हैं वो भी सक्रियता से समाज के अभिन्न अंग बनेंगे और उनका राष्ट्र में कुछ ना कुछ योगदान होगा ।
